Hagit Moverman/Director of Congregational Learning

Hagit’s connections to Jewish life and learning run deep. She was born in Israel, in a small town overlooking Mount Carmel and the Galilee, and grew up with a deep appreciation of the land as well as Jewish ritual and culture. She earned a bachelor’s in history from Haifa University. While a graduate student at Tel Aviv University, she met and married her husband David, an
ophthalmologist from Rhode Island, and the couple moved to the U.S., where Hagit
continued her studies at Hebrew College, earning a Master of Arts in Jewish history and
studies.

As an educator, Hagit has developed and run programs for the Town of Sharon, Temple
Beth Emunah in Brockton, and Providence Hebrew Day School.

“As a teacher, I have been lucky to have the opportunity to work with students of
different age groups and ability levels. I am always trying to spark and elevate the
students’ interest with the subject studied, and make the learning experience engaging
and joyful,” she says.

She also works to make programs engaging for the entire family, with a goal of creating
long-lasting connections through shared Jewish experiences.

“My reward working in Jewish education has not been measured only by the
improvement and success of the students, but also by nurturing and watching the
development of a growing Jewish identity within the children and their families,” she
adds.

Hagit is working with Rabbi Talya Weisbard Shalem to develop new curricula for the
CAA Hebrew School, and will partner with the Intergenerational Education Committee to
develop programs for learners at every level.

She previously taught Kindergarten and first grade and has worked in day care settings and other religious schools. She has a great passion for baking, crafting, and reading. Linda hopes to engage the children in meaningful hands-on activities that will enhance their Jewish identity.

She is fascinated by finding different ways to connect with Jewish identity and with reading and understanding biblical texts from varied viewpoints. She lives in Medway with her dashing, brilliant husband, her German Shepherd, and Maine coon cat.
