Covid Guidelines Updated: Masking Now Optional

Covid Guidelines Updated: Masking Now Optional

The Community Health Committee (CHC) met on March 28, 2023, to review the survey data regarding masking, to revise the Matrix guidelines and to make recommendations to the Board. In review of the data, most respondents to the survey on masking want to see masking optional. The (CHC) agreed and revised the Matrix guidance accordingly. You can view the Matrix here and in the weekly email. The one exception will be if the MA Department of Public Health or the CDC, for whatever reason and for whatever virus, declares that the transmission level is ‘High’. At that point, masking precautions will resume according to the CAA Matrix guidance.

We also want to take a minute to remind you of the improvements we have made over the past three years to the air quality for our beloved CAA building. Research shows that good ventilation is one of the best ways to manage viral transmission. Through a generous donation of one of our members we installed economizers that now circulate fresh air into the social hall and sanctuary. Last year, we installed a new HVAC unit for the classroom and office wing that also circulates fresh air. New air purifiers operate in the two classrooms and a new CO2 monitor can give a reading in any area of the building. With all of these efforts, we have endeavored to create spaces where congregants can gather in safety.

As we welcome the change in season, we also look forward to welcoming you back into the building for services and events. Please reach out to any member of the CHC or the Board if you have any questions or issues about our health policies.
